In Jacksonville, Florida, authorities announced on Saturday the prompt apprehension of an individual accused of fatally shooting his father in the Eastside neighborhood.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched to a reported shooting at a residence along the 1200 block of Grant Street around 4:50 p.m. on Friday.

Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement discovered 50-year-old Michael Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility, but unfortunately, he did not survive his injuries.

After conducting interviews with witnesses present at the location, the authorities identified 26-year-old David Johnson, the victim’s son, as the suspect in the shooting.

David was taken into custody shortly after midnight on Saturday and is currently held at the Duval County Jail.
