CHICAGO (WLS) — Over the weekend, Chicago police launched an investigation into a distressing incident involving an armed sexual assault on the city’s North Side.
According to sources within the police department, the two individuals involved in this harrowing event are both 15-year-old girls. Law enforcement officials reported that the incident occurred as the young girls were walking together along the 2900 block of West Wilson Avenue in Ravenswood Manor, just before 9:20 p.m. on Friday night.

While strolling, the girls noticed they were being followed, and soon thereafter, the situation escalated when two men began to chase them. The suspects eventually caught up to the girls, leading to a terrifying ordeal.
One of the assailants reportedly held one of the girls at knifepoint, while the other suspect brandished a firearm and perpetrated a sexual assault on the victim in a nearby alley.
The police are actively searching for the two suspects involved in this crime. Descriptions provided indicate that one of the suspects stands between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with a weight range of 170 to 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a Nike jacket, black pants, and dark sneakers.

The other was described as 5-feet, 5-inches to 5-feet, 7-inches tall, weighing 135 to 150 pounds, wearing a Nike jacket, dark pants and sneakers.

Residents told ABC7 the neighborhood has been shaken by news of the attack, especially with so many families with teenagers in the area.
Detectives were still knocking on doors Sunday as they continue to collect surveillance video from Friday night.
Alderperson Rosana Rodriguez-Sanchez told ABC7 patrols in the neighborhood have been increased as police continue their search.
