Georgia high school teacher allegedly had sex with student in school closet and parked Hummer

A Georgia high school teacher has been arrested on allegations of engaging in sexual misconduct with a student, including an encounter reportedly taking place in a school closet.

Maris Nichols, 25, was apprehended on Thursday and is currently held at the Douglas County Jail. She faces two felony charges of sexual assault by an individual in a supervisory or disciplinary position, as per the jail’s records.

At the center of these allegations is Nichols, an educator at Alexander High School. She is accused of having sexual relations with a student on two separate occasions: firstly on April 23 in a school closet, and subsequently on May 2 in a Hummer parked in a residential driveway.

Images released by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Google Maps depict Maris Nichols, who is charged with having sexual encounters with a student on at least two occasions.

The Douglas County School System has confirmed to 11Alive that an investigation is underway concerning a person linked with Alexander High. In a letter addressed to parents on Thursday, the school district expressed being “deeply troubled” by the serious nature of the allegations.

Google Maps has also shared images related to the case, involving a teacher from Alexander High School in Douglasville, Georgia, who is accused of maintaining an improper relationship with a student.

“Upon learning of the alleged misconduct, the district immediately launched an investigation,” the statement read. “The Douglas County School System will continue to cooperate fully with state and local law enforcement. The district cannot provide additional information regarding the allegations. Any further inquiries should be directed to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to the school district to ask if Nichols is still employed, as well as the sheriff’s office.

Her arrest follows an announcement earlier in the week from the district stating an unidentified female teacher had been put on leave during an investigation.
