Shocking Train-Truck Collision: Septic Tank Spill and Driver Injuries Caught on Camera

An alarming incident unfolded in Chesapeake, Virginia, when a train collided with a truck transporting a septic tank, releasing sewage onto the roadway and leaving the truck driver with critical injuries.

The driver, who reportedly ignored a stop sign, found himself in the path of an oncoming train while crossing the tracks on Thursday afternoon, according to initial police reports.

Surveillance footage captured the dramatic scene as the truck, burdened with a large silver septic tank, was struck by the train around 4 p.m. The impact spun the vehicle out of control, toppling a tree and sending sewage flying into the air.

Once the wrecked truck came to a stop at the roadside, the noxious liquid continued to spill onto the street, creating a hazardous situation.

A witness, Azuriah O’Daniel, recorded the chaotic aftermath, reacting with shock and disbelief as the scene unfolded before him.

“Holy s–t! Holy f–k!” the man who captured the harrowing footage, Azuriah O’Daniel, screamed in terror. “Oh my God, what the f–k?”

First responders rushed to the scene and took the male driver to the hospital. He was in stable condition as of Friday, WAVY reported.

Authorities have not released any further information about his identity. 

Police said the dramatic incident triggered a “minor hazmat situation,” but there was no immediate threat to the public. 

No one onboard the train was injured, according to Norfolk Southern.

The crash is under investigation and the Chesapeake Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
