LOS ANGELES — Sigourney Weaver, celebrated for her iconic roles in sci-fi classics like “Alien” and “Avatar,” has achieved another Hollywood milestone with a hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre.
Adding to her illustrious career, Weaver is set to enter the “Star Wars” realm, joining the beloved series with “The Mandalorian and Grogu.”
At the ceremony, she was accompanied by co-star Pedro Pascal and renowned director James Cameron, both of whom praised her significant contributions to the film industry.
Weaver expressed her gratitude, stating, “Being included among such a distinguished group of stars, a collection of remarkable talents from all facets of the business, is an unparalleled honor.”
Cameron commended her enduring legacy, remarking, “Sigourney crafted the quintessential image of female strength in cinema, a legacy that remains unchallenged. You played the brilliant woman ignored by men, resulting in their demise. Let that be a lesson for us all.”
Pascal also emphasized her substantial impact on the genre.
“I’ve been playing a space dad in the ‘Star Wars’ universe for eight years now, but Sigourney Weaver is the original space mom,” he said.
The ceremony included moments reflecting Weaver’s ongoing contributions to film, including a preview clip tied to her upcoming role in the “Star Wars” franchise.
“I’ve been able to hummingbird my way from one story to another, from one amazing character to another, one decade to another, following great stories no matter where they lead me, and I’ve worked with the most wonderful people,” Weaver said.
She went on to say, “You know, if you’re gonna end up on your knees on Hollywood Boulevard, this is by far the best scenario,” she added, garnering laughter and applause.
