SJSO: Woman caught on camera abusing child following Instacart delivery in St. Johns County

A Ring doorbell recording led St. Johns County deputies to arrest 36-year-old Kiah Lowey in connection with an alleged child abuse incident.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A woman is facing a child abuse charge after deputies said footage showed her striking her child following an Instacart grocery delivery, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Lowey, 36, was taken into custody after investigators reviewed video from the home’s doorbell camera.

The sheriff’s office said deputies were called to a residence on Alta Street on May 31 after receiving a report of suspected child abuse.

According to SJSO, the person who made the report had received groceries through Instacart and later checked their Ring doorbell footage, where they saw an interaction involving Lowery and her child.

Investigators said the video shows the child struggling to carry a basket of groceries while Lowery appeared upset and used profanity toward the child. When the child could not carry the basket, deputies said Lowery instructed them to carry a 24-pack of bottled water instead.

Deputies said the child dropped the case of water, and the video then showed Lowery hitting the child in the face.
