LOS ANGELES — Gaten Matarazzo is stepping into a new role in the entertainment sphere following his success with “Stranger Things.” This time, he takes center stage in Hulu’s latest college comedy, “Pizza Movie.”
The intriguing plot casts Matarazzo alongside Sean Giambrone as college roommates on a seemingly simple quest for pizza. However, their mundane evening takes an unexpected turn when an experimental drug propels them into a whirlwind of bizarre encounters, vivid hallucinations, and surprising insights that could potentially reshape their lives.
Hulu has provided a glimpse into the film by releasing a collection of still images, offering audiences a sneak peek into the chaos and humor that “Pizza Movie” promises. (Be sure to browse through the photo gallery above to catch a glimpse.)
Joining Matarazzo and Giambrone is an ensemble cast featuring talents such as Lulu Wilson, Jack Martin, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Marcus Scribner, Caleb Hearon, Sarah Sherman, Justin Cooley, Kevin Matthew Reyes, Adam Herschman, and Lucas Zelnick.
The film comes to life under the production of Jeremy Garelick and Will Phelps from American High, along with Billy Rosenberg from All Things Comedy. Additional producers include Jason Zaro, Molle DeBartolo, and Max Butler, with Matarazzo also serving as an executive producer. The creative vision behind “Pizza Movie” is driven by writers and directors Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher.
Mark your calendars for March 13, when “Pizza Movie” will debut at the SXSW festival. Following the premiere, it will become available for streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ starting April 3.
