Man arrested in NYC robbery in which victim was shot multiple times

A man has been taken into custody in connection with a dramatic and widely shared shooting and robbery in New York City that has left the victim fighting for his life.

Authorities have charged Lexson Warner with robbery, assault, illegal possession of a weapon, and possession of stolen property following the early Monday morning event in Borough Park, police confirmed.

Though Warner, 32, faces charges, investigators do not believe he was the shooter in the terrifying encounter, during which a gunman fired several shots while robbing the victim at gunpoint.

The 31-year-old victim had just stepped out of a vehicle on 58th Street in the Borough Park area of Brooklyn at approximately 3:30 a.m. when an unknown individual approached him, according to police reports.

The entire robbery was captured on surveillance footage, which was subsequently shared on the social media platform X.

Determined to keep his possessions, the victim engaged in a struggle with the assailant, who, as seen in the video and confirmed by police, fired a warning shot into nearby trash cans in front of a residence.

The attacker then turned the gun on the victim, appearing to shoot him in the leg, with the flash from the fired pistol clearly visible in the video.

The two men then move out of view, behind a tree. The victim is next seen in the clip lying on the ground, bleeding from his abdomen.

The victim was shot multiple times in the gut and leg and was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition, police said. He required surgery but was in stable condition Saturday, police sources said.

The robber got away with the victim’s cellphone, wallet, and approximately $300 before running eastbound on 59th Street, police said.

The robbery was still under investigation.
