Andre Myers, 54, has been charged by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) for failing to stop at a deadly crash scene and not providing assistance, which is classified as a first-degree felony.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Following a fatal hit-and-run accident in Jacksonville’s Arlington area, which resulted in the death of 13-year-old Genesis Webber on Tuesday night, an arrest has been confirmed by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.
Andre Myers, 54, is facing charges from the JSO for fleeing a fatal crash site and neglecting to offer help, constituting a first-degree felony charge.
JSO said officers found Myers asleep in his truck when they arrested him late Wednesday night.
The JSO reported that around 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, a pedestrian discovered Genesis unresponsive by the roadside in the 700 block of Arlington Road North.
JSO Sgt. Hungerford informed First Coast News that the pedestrian called 911. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived shortly after and declared Genesis deceased at the scene.
Hungerford stated that evidence showed Genesis was walking along Arlington Road when she was struck by a vehicle that veered over a curb. The impact also demolished a significant portion of a chain link fence, according to Hungerford.
“The vehicle then fled the scene without reporting the crash nor rendering aid,” Hungerford said.
The crash marks as the 125 traffic fatality in Duval County in 2025, and the 29th involving a pedestrian, Hungerford said.
“The loss of any life is tragic, but the loss of an innocent young life makes this case much more difficult,” JSO said in a statement. We hope this quick arrest brings peace to Genesis’s family and friends while they mourn her loss.”
