In a concerning incident this week, a 15-year-old student was apprehended for allegedly carrying a loaded firearm into his public high school in Queens, police and law enforcement officials reported. The teenager, already wanted in connection with an assault case, was found with the weapon concealed in his backpack when authorities arrived at Long Island City High School in Astoria to arrest him around 12:50 p.m. on Monday.
Upon his arrest, the young suspect faced charges of criminal possession of a weapon. Additionally, he, along with two other juveniles, was also taken into custody for their alleged involvement in an assault that had occurred the previous week, according to sources. This unsettling event unfolded less than a week after a similar case at Cascades High School on the Lower East Side, where a 16-year-old was discovered with a loaded 9-millimeter handgun tucked inside his coat pocket. These incidents underscore growing concerns about safety and security within the school environment.
