Westside apartment shooting leaves three people injured

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says it happened just after 9 p.m. Saturday in the area of Rensselaer Avenue.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A teenager is on the mend after being injured in a shooting during a house party in Jacksonville’s Avondale neighborhood, according to police reports.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday along Rensselaer Avenue. Officers discovered a young teenager with gunshot wounds to the leg and arm. The individual was transported to a nearby hospital, and officials have stated that the injuries are not life-threatening.

Investigators believe an unknown suspect fired several rounds at the house party, but also say this seemed to be an isolated incident.

Authorities do not have a current description for the suspect.

Detectives from the Crime Scene Unit are examining the site for evidence. Meanwhile, Robbery and Violent Crime Detectives are actively gathering information by interviewing witnesses and reviewing footage from video surveillance.
