Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, the Chief of the General Staff for the Israel Defense Forces, announced on Sunday the upcoming phase of Israel’s conflict with Hamas.
During a visit to Gaza, Zamir addressed IDF troops, detailing their intentions to advance “Operation Gideon’s Chariots” with increased vigor.
“Today marks the approval of the plan for the next stage in our conflict. Much like our recent operations in Iran, Yemen, Lebanon, Judea and Samaria, and Gaza, we’ll continue to transform the security landscape,” Zamir shared with battalion leaders and others on site.
“Our focus remains on Gaza City as we persist with Operation ‘Gideon’s Chariots,’ aiming for Hamas’s decisive defeat while keeping the hostages’ safety our priority,” he added.
Zamir’s visit follows shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office disclosed intentions for Israel to indefinitely control the Gaza Strip post-conflict.
Approved by the Security Cabinet, the plan authorizes Defense Minister Israel Katz to mobilize over 400,000 reserve troops to execute the operation through November 30.
