Three Wendy’s employees in South Carolina have been arrested after authorities say they took a customer’s food from the trash, spit on it and served it back to her after she complained about her original order.
Aaliyah Shuntai Sanders, 23, Trinity Lashell Rice, 19, and Shadela Crystal Holley were each charged with tampering with a human drug product or food item in connection with the incident at a Wendy’s restaurant in Union.
According to Fox Carolinas, the three suspects were taken into custody separately between June 16 and June 22.

The case stems from a May 31 drive-thru order. Police said the customer reported a problem with her meal and asked for a refund, prompting employees to take the food back. Staff then offered to remake the order, and the customer agreed before leaving the restaurant.

While she was driving away, the customer received a call from someone at the restaurant who told her that an employee had retrieved the food from a trash can and spit on it before it was handed back to her.
After inspecting the meal, the woman determined that the replacement order appeared to be the same food she had originally returned.
She immediately contacted the police to report the incident. The victim also called the store to speak with the restaurant manager, who confirmed he had spoken with the staff and verified the allegations. The manager noted that all three employees involved had been written up.
