An Oregon police officer suffered multiple gunshot wounds on Sunday while attending to a domestic disturbance, which tragically resulted in several fatalities, officials reported.
Responding to a call just before 4 p.m., officers from the Sandy Police Department and the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office hurried to the 39000 block of Evans Street in Sandy, located approximately 30 miles east of Portland, following reports of both a domestic dispute and gunfire.
Upon their arrival, the situation escalated with shots being fired. In the ensuing exchange, one officer was hit multiple times.
The injured officer was promptly transported by Life Flight to a nearby hospital, and the Sandy Police Department has confirmed that the officer is expected to recover.
Sandy Police Chief Patrick Huskey addressed the media briefly on Sunday.
