A tragic incident unfolded during a family gathering, where a father and his twin sons were discovered dead in what authorities suspect to be a murder-suicide.
The fatalities occurred at a residence located in the 800 block of Owensmouth Avenue in Canoga Park, a neighborhood within the San Fernando Valley. The victims were a man and his 10-year-old sons, police reported.
Police responded to the distress call around 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, arriving to find heartbroken family members gathered outside the home.
“It’s really heartbreaking. Two young children and their father—it’s a family. No one should have to go through that,” a woman at the scene expressed to ABC7 Eyewitness News.
Investigators dedicated several hours to meticulously gathering evidence and piecing together the events that led to this devastating outcome.
The home, situated directly across from Lanark Park, drew significant attention from families and park visitors due to the substantial police activity throughout the day.
KTLA reported that the incident may have occurred during a family gathering. Cops have not released any more details or confirmed the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Throughout the day, loved ones and neighborhood residents stopped by, many hoping to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
“I felt like, even though we might not see their family, we thought that they needed some prayer and some thought, because, like, I don’t know, I know me personally, whether I know them or not, I would want to pray for someone’s healing and just overall as a person, because that’s really sad and I don’t wish that upon anybody,” the woman said.
