Explosive fire kills multiple people at Swiss Alps bar during New Year’s celebrations

During New Year’s festivities, a devastating fire erupted at a bar in the Swiss Alps, resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries, according to police reports.

The incident took place in the ski resort town of Crans-Montana, nestled in the Swiss Alps, as confirmed by local authorities.

Police spokesperson Gaëtan Lathion stated, “The blaze ignited around 1:30 a.m. at a venue known as ‘Le Constellation.’ The bar was crowded with over a hundred patrons, leading to several casualties and numerous injuries.”

Authorities have launched an investigation to uncover the fire’s origin, as per police statements.

Lathion mentioned, “We are merely at the initial stages of our inquiry, but this is a ski resort recognized globally, attracting a large number of visitors.”

A reception center and helpline have been established for impacted families, Lathion said.

A news conference was scheduled by police for 10 a.m. The community is in the heart of the Swiss Alps, about 25 miles north of the Matterhorn.
