A devastating fire swept through a mansion in Westchester County, severely injuring four individuals, including two children. The blaze occurred overnight, trapping the victims inside as firefighters urgently worked to save them.
The inferno ignited at approximately 2:30 a.m. in a residence located in Cortlandt Manor. Flames engulfed the building, bursting through doors and windows, as emergency responders fought valiantly to extract the panic-stricken occupants from their second-floor bedrooms, according to Mohegan Lake Fire Chief Thomas Eade in a statement to News 12.
“Firefighters executed a determined and tactical search, utilizing ground ladders to access the second-floor windows,” Eade explained to the news outlet.
“Rescues were made from both windows while simultaneously working to douse the flames with a hose line. The crews performed exceptionally. The bravery displayed by both male and female members today was truly remarkable,” he added.
All four individuals were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals. Among them, two teenagers are in “extremely critical condition.”
The young victims, a boy and a girl, sustained severe burns covering roughly half of their bodies, as reported by the outlet.
“Two teenagers… came out in serious condition with CPR being administered immediately,” Eade said.
One female victim was listed in stable condition at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, while doctors were still working to stabilize the male victim at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.

One firefighter is also being treated for exhaustion, the outlet reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
