Trump Taps Special Envoy to Support US Landowners Burdened by Dems' Green Energy Mandates

Country music star John Rich has been appointed by President Donald Trump as a Special Envoy for American Landowners, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture announcement released this week.

Rich shared the news with followers on X on June 8, saying he was honored to take on the role and serve as a link between the federal government and what he described as the long-overlooked concerns of farmers, ranchers and other landowners.

He closed the message with an American flag emoji, underscoring the patriotic tone of the announcement.

Rich has already signaled that he is familiar with several of the issues troubling rural landowners, particularly complaints from conservatives about clean energy and environmental policies. On June 7, he weighed in on an X post from Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman, highlighting his interest in the debate surrounding those policies.

Rich is not the only conservative voice in the music industry to enter the political conversation. As RedState recently noted, Five for Fighting singer Jon Ondrasik publicly backed his friend, former sports broadcaster Michele Tafoya, in her bid for the U.S. Senate in Minnesota.

The singer has also remained a frequent presence in conservative political circles. Earlier this month, Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee suggested Rich as a possible replacement performer for the Freedom 250 event after several artists, including Martina McBride, withdrew from the show.

John Rich isn’t the only Conservative in the music world, as RedState recently wrote about Jon Ondrasik of Five for Fighting’s strong endorsement of his friend, former pro sports broadcaster Michele Tafoya, for U.S. Senate in Minnesota.

He’s also been a regular feature in these pages. Rep.Tim Burchett (TN-02), as we wrote earlier in June, suggested his friend Rich as an alternative performer for the Freedom 250 show; when many of the artists – like Martina McBride – dropped out.
