President Trump said Saturday that he plans to nominate retired Oklahoma State Trooper Lance Schroyer to lead U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, praising him as a patriot with experience targeting dangerous offenders.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump highlighted Schroyer’s nearly three decades in Oklahoma law enforcement and pointed to his own electoral success across the state, noting that he carried every county there in three consecutive elections.
ICE has not had a Senate-confirmed director since 2017, as immigration enforcement has remained a flashpoint in bitter partisan debates on Capitol Hill.
Trump described Schroyer as a “PATRIOT” with hands-on operational experience and a long record of putting away the “worst of the worst,” citing his work leading 287(g) partnerships between local law enforcement agencies and ICE.
The president also said Schroyer has direct experience removing “Illegal Aliens OFF our streets” and added that, like Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, he “LOVES the men and women of ICE.”

Mullin, who was confirmed by the Senate as secretary of homeland security, took over the department after Trump pushed out his embattled predecessor, Kristi Noem.
Former acting ICE Director Todd Lyons announced his resignation in April, months after Renee Good and Alex Pretti were shot in January during anti-ICE demonstrations.
Trump urged the Senate, which is in recess through the week of July 4, to move quickly and confirm Schroyer without delay.
A LinkedIn page in his name has no posts, activity or personal information beyond his title; news reports from 2015 and 2016 document Schroyer responding to traumatic highway car crashes.
