Illinois Democrats reject Trump’s offer to help curb Chicago crime

Two people were fatally shot inside a vehicle on the University of Chicago campus Thursday, according to local reports.
Police said the victims, identified as a 27-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, were found in a vehicle in the 5900 block of South Ellis Avenue, near the Midway Plaisance Ice Skating Rink and Harper Quad, around 5:35 p.m., NBC 5 Chicago reported.
Both victims had suffered gunshot wounds to the head, authorities said.

The man and woman were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, but both were later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not said whether either victim had any connection to the University of Chicago.

A firearm was recovered from the scene, police said.
Video of the scene showed that the vehicle, which was damaged, appeared to have crashed either during or after the shooting, NBC 5 Chicago reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
“This incident is currently under investigation, and we cannot confirm details at this time,” a Chicago Police Department spokesperson told INC News.
