On Friday, federal officials apprehended two individuals at a Los Angeles residence associated with a purported Iranian human smuggling network that allegedly “consistently harbored illegal entrants with suspected terrorism links.”

The announcement came from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in a post on X, noting that the arrests were part of a wider national security initiative involving various federal agencies.

“Today, CBP executed a federal search warrant at a Los Angeles human smuggling site connected to national security threats,” the agency reported. “Two people were taken into custody during the operation, which was spearheaded by CBP’s Special Response Team and supported by Border Patrol tactical units and Air and Marine Operations.”

“Under @POTUS, CBP is taking aggressive action to shut down smuggling networks and remove national security threats before they can do harm,” the agency said.
