PROVO, Utah — Prosecutors on Wednesday showed a courtroom video clip of Tyler Robinson after he surrendered to Utah authorities, one day after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot.
The footage depicted Robinson inside a room at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, wearing a T-shirt and a baseball cap. The clip had no sound, and it was not clear whether investigators questioned him while he was there.
At the end of this week’s hearing, State District Judge Tony Graf will determine whether prosecutors have presented enough evidence for Robinson to stand trial on an aggravated murder charge in Kirk’s fatal September shooting at Utah Valley University.
State Bureau of Investigation Agent Brian Davis testified Wednesday that Robinson’s roommate, Lance Twiggs, was interviewed twice during the investigation. Twiggs, who was also Robinson’s romantic partner, received immunity for his statements, meaning his remarks cannot be used against him in any potential criminal case, Davis said.
Robinson’s attorneys objected to playing recordings of those interviews in open court.
