A news crew from KTLA found themselves at the center of an unexpected drama while reporting on a frightening bear incident in Monrovia, California, this Sunday.

Erin Myers, a reporter, was stationed on a tranquil residential street, delivering the latest updates about a recent bear attack. Earlier, a woman had been injured by a bear while she was walking her dog, sustaining a claw wound behind her knee.

A KTLA news crew in Monrovia, California, got a lot more than they bargained for this weekend while covering a terrifying bear attack on Sunday.

A bear walks on the sidewalk past a mailbox in front of a grassy lawn during a live news report.
In the middle of the live shot, a black bear casually wandered into the frame behind her. KTLA

In an unexpected turn of events during the live broadcast, a black bear nonchalantly appeared in the background. “You can see the bear actually walking into the trap, or no, it was going to, but now it’s walking out,” Myers narrated as the bear made its surprising entrance.

This astonishing moment unfolded live on air, as Myers maintained her professionalism despite the surprising appearance of the wild animal behind her.

Authorities were working to ascertain if the bear that appeared during the broadcast was the same one involved in the earlier attack.

Fortunately, this particular bear seemed uninterested in making headlines. After a tense moment where it appeared to contemplate an unexpected media appearance, the bear decided against it and retreated back into the surrounding vegetation.
