Urgent Manhunt Underway: Suspect at Large After Eastside Jacksonville Shooting Leaves Victim in Critical Condition

A shooting incident on Jacksonville’s Eastside has left a young man with a chest injury, prompting a police investigation. Authorities assure the public that there is no continuing danger following the altercation.

On Tuesday evening, an altercation in Jacksonville resulted in a man in his early 20s being shot in the chest. Fortunately, the injuries he sustained are not life-threatening, as confirmed by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

Responding to reports of gunfire shortly after 5 p.m., officers arrived at the scene on the 800 block of Bert Road. There, they discovered the victim who had been shot and promptly transported him to a nearby hospital with the help of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department.

The incident unfolded as the victim was walking near the intersection of Arlington Road North and Blackard Road. He became embroiled in a heated exchange with an individual inside a vehicle. The situation escalated when the person in the car drew a firearm, discharging multiple rounds and striking the victim once in the chest.

Following the shooting, the suspect quickly departed from the scene, heading north on Hollister Road. Authorities have described the suspect as a younger black male, driving a dark green sedan.

Investigators are treating this event as an isolated incident, with no broader threat to public safety. They are now focused on uncovering the details of the argument and any potential connections between the individuals involved.
