Authorities in Bexar County are expressing grave concerns for the safety of Camila Mendoza Olmos, a 19-year-old who vanished on Christmas Eve. Sheriff Javier Salazar has stated that they believe Olmos is “in imminent danger.”

In light of this, the FBI has been brought in to provide technical support, while the Department of Homeland Security is monitoring border crossings and international travel for any signs of Olmos, as reported by ABC News. Sheriff Salazar emphasized the importance of leaving no stone unturned in this investigation. “The ground search is somewhat limited to a couple of square miles,” he said. “We’re also not ruling out that this case may take us outside the borders of the continental United States.”

The last known sighting of Olmos was outside her San Antonio home on Christmas Eve, as confirmed by the authorities. The urgency of the situation is underscored by the multi-agency effort to locate her.

In an effort to be thorough, Sheriff Salazar verified with ABC News that Olmos has not been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, even though she is a U.S. citizen. “That was a personal concern,” Salazar commented. “So, I had it checked to make sure that there were no stops, no detentions, and that she’s not somewhere in a federal detention facility. That is something we needed to check.”

The sheriff confirmed to ABC that the young woman had not been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which he verified despite Olmos being an American citizen.

“That was a personal concern. So, I had it checked to make sure that there were no stops, no detentions, and that she’s not somewhere in a federal detention facility. That is something we needed to check,” Salazar noted, according to the outlet.

Fox News Digital reached out to the sheriff’s office for comment.
