Authorities are searching for a swimmer who was reported missing Monday morning off Newport Beach.
The U.S. Coast Guard said it was notified at about 7:45 a.m. that 47-year-old Wesley MacFarland had disappeared in the area off Newport Harbor.
In a public update, USCG Southwest said the Coast Guard was assisting partner agencies in the search for Wesley Alan Macfarland and urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Coast Guard Sector LA-LB Command Center at 310-521-3805.
Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

The search comes during a period of heightened concern along the Southern California coast, following a deadly incident in Laguna Beach earlier in June in which a mother and her two children were swept into the ocean.
The mother and her 7-year-old son were rescued, but her 5-year-old child died at Treasure Island Beach, roughly 10 miles south of Newport Harbor.
Ocean conditions have prompted repeated warnings at Southern California beaches throughout June.
In mid-June, the city of Newport Beach advised residents to prepare for a series of high king tides expected from Saturday, June 13, through Tuesday, June 16, warning that evening high tides could lead to localized flooding in low-lying harborfront neighborhoods.
In San Diego, lifeguards were also involved in more than 385 rescues in a span of around one week this month.
