A normally lively stretch of the Congaree River turned chaotic on June 6 when a large fight broke out at the 601 Sand Bar in Calhoun County, South Carolina.
Videos from the scene show multiple confrontations unfolding at once as crowds gathered along the popular river hangout. In the footage, punches are thrown while others try to pull people apart, and several people can be seen grappling in knee-deep water as onlookers shout and film the disturbance on their phones.
The incident has since resulted in six arrests, and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities previously told WIS-TV that more than 20 people appeared to be involved in the brawl. At least three people were hurt, with reported injuries including swollen eyes and head trauma.
Images released in connection with the case show people exchanging punches during the fight at the 601 Sand Bar, underscoring the scale of the disorder that unfolded at the popular gathering spot.
