The term Russiagate is emerging as one of the most significant political scandals of the century so far. It was a widespread and intricate conspiracy aimed at disrupting and discrediting Donald Trump’s legitimate presidency. This effort not only disrespected but attempted to overturn the decision made by the American voters.

Devin Nunes, who served as a Republican Congressman from California on the House Intelligence Committee, quickly identified the core of the issue. Recently, he shared insights on this scandal during a discussion with Lara Trump from Fox News.

     

Some highlights:

Lara Trump asked Nunes: You were the earliest to warn about the supposed Russia collusion hoax. What was the reaction to your warnings?

Devin Nunes explained: They targeted Trump and his campaign from early 2016. After Trump won the election, the FBI and intelligence agencies briefed us about election interference. Their conclusion? There wasn’t any. The information in the presidential daily brief matched what Congress already knew, but an intelligence assessment launched what became the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, which plagued Trump’s first administration and led to the Mueller investigation. This involved the same people tied to the false whistleblower issue and eventually extended to the Mar-a-Lago raid.

Nunes elaborated on his doubts about the information, mentioning how he began to notice leaks seemingly originating from Congress.

Lara Trump: You must feel vindicated in so much of what has finally come out.

Devin Nunes shared: Take Carter Page as an example. He worked for the CIA yet hesitated to reveal his role when speaking to the committee due to fear of rule violations. He believed the CIA and FBI would protect him, but instead, they used him as a pawn. They misused the FISA court to spy on the Trump campaign from late 2016, and this surveillance continued into 2017. The same individuals were involved throughout. So, do I feel vindicated? No. Because true vindication is impossible. We can’t help those who were harmed. The only course for President Trump and his administration is to ensure those responsible are held accountable and to prevent a recurrence of such an incident.

That would appear to be happening right now. Security clearances are being yanked with abandon, and a grand jury is seated; it remains to be seen how high the rot will go, and who all will be called on the carpet, but it’s looking like all the old deep state bets are off.
