An unsettling incident unfolded at the Cowabunga Bay Water Park in Draper, Utah, where a 68-year-old woman found herself at the center of a legal storm. Marjorie C. Aliprandi was arrested following accusations of attacking a young boy who inadvertently splashed her with water.
The Draper Police Department reported that the incident occurred on the Lazy River ride. The child had playfully splashed water from a fountain, which apparently triggered Aliprandi’s ire. In a sudden outburst, she allegedly seized the child by the throat, attempting to stop the splashing by force.
An affidavit obtained by ABC 4 provides further insight, revealing that the woman, in her anger, used both hands to strangle the boy, leaving him with noticeable red scratches on his neck. The child recounted feeling significant pressure during the assault, according to authorities.

Following the altercation, the boy quickly informed his mother, prompting a call to the police. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, where they documented the boy’s injuries and spoke with him to gather more details about the distressing encounter.
The boy told his mom what happened and police were called to the water park and spoke with the child.
The boy had red scratches on his neck and said he felt pressure when Aliprandi grabbed his neck, authorities said.
A lifeguard at the water park witnessed the incident, telling police she saw Aliprandi become upset with the child and choke him after he had sprayed her with water.
Aliprandi was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault, a felony, and one count of child abuse, a misdemeanor. She was booked at the Salt Lake County Jail.
Police did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for additional information.
