New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is set to take the guest chair next week on a special New York-themed edition of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the network announced Thursday.
The social media-savvy mayor will join liberal host Jimmy Kimmel during the show’s eighth annual run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House, scheduled for Sept. 28 through Oct. 2.
Mamdani will be among a star-studded lineup of actors, politicians and musicians appearing before a live studio audience. The guests include fellow socialist firebrand Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Other guests booked for the five-day BAM run include Mahershala Ali, Paul McCartney, Robby Hoffman, Billy Crystal, Pete Davidson, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Morello, Howard Stern, and fellow late-night hosts Seth Meyers and John Oliver.
The musical lineup will feature De La Soul, Goose, TV On The Radio, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello.
Earlier this month, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” marked its 4,000th episode, using its return from a summer break to take aim at Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr.
Kimmel, who regularly targets President Trump and other Republicans in his monologues, also revisited his show’s brief suspension and his continuing dispute with Carr in 2025.
Disney briefly suspended Kimmel after controversial comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk drew widespread outrage. ABC initially announced that the program would be preempted indefinitely.
Kimmel returned to the air several days later and said he had never intended to make light of Kirk’s death.
Months afterward, the host faced renewed criticism when a joke about first lady Melania Trump, described as an “expectant widow,” went viral on social media following another assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC and streams the following day on Hulu.
