According to the coroner’s report, Delafuente’s death was the result of multiple gunshot wounds.

The incident unfolded when Waukegan police responded to a call just before 3 p.m. on Saturday, concerning a man who had allegedly attempted suicide.

Upon arrival, three officers were present at the scene, as verified by the Waukegan police department.

During the encounter, shots were fired at Delafuente by the officers, leading to his death.

The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are not yet known. No one else was hurt.

At least five evidence markers could be seen on the doorsteps of a home in the area.

Crime tape was wrapped around several homes. ABC7 also saw a Waukegan police cruiser towed away from the scene.

The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Unit is investigating.
