Manolo Santana was the first Spanish tennis player to win a Grand Slam title.

The news of his death was announced at the Mutua Madrid Open, of which he was honorary president.

Manuel Santana is a well-known tennis legend in Spain, having become the first player of his nationality to win a Grand Slam tournament, Roland Garros, in 1961.

Claudia Rodriguez was Manolo Santana’s fourth wife. She was reportedly 20 years his junior.

The couple married in a private ceremony at the home of friends in Nueva Andalucia. Claudia was born and raised in Columbia.

The couple, however, later divorced.

Prior to Claudia, Santana had four children with Mara Fernanda González-Dopeso: Manuel, Beatriz, Borja, and Bárbara. Their marriage came to an end in 1980.

He later married Mila Ximénez, a reporter, and they had a daughter, Alba. The divorce was a sour one.

Mila Ximénez died at the age of 69, exactly one year after she was in charge of telling the audience of ‘Save me’ about her illness. After a few weeks away from her program, the collaborator revealed through tears that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer.

Manolo Santana Net Worth

Manolo Santana’s net worth has never been revealed. However, he must have amassed a large fortune through a successful tennis career.

After leading Spain to a surprise Davis Cup victory over the United States in 1965, Santana became a national hero. In 1970, he defeated Rod Laver 6–4, 6–3, 6–4 in Barcelona, which was his most notable event victory.

DEP Manolo.Gracias por tu bondad, cercanía y por enseñarnos el camino. Siempre fuiste nuestro referente, para todos en el tenis español, un pionero. Tan atento y tan cercano, en los buenos y los malos momentos. Te echaré de menos.

About Manolo Santana Family & His Children

Manolo Santana was born in the Vallecas neighborhood of Madrid on May 10, 1938. He came from a poor family and began working at the Velázquez club as a ball boy when he was 12 years old.

His father, who had been imprisoned for political reasons during the Franco regime, died in 1954 and was taken in by the Romero Girón family. He moved in with them and quickly rose through the ranks from ball boy to club member.

He married five different women throughout his life. Manuel, Beatriz, Borja, Bárbara, and Alba are Manolo’s five children.
