President Donald Trump seems to have embraced the opulent design philosophy of “more is more” when it comes to gold embellishments.

On Friday morning, Dan Scavino, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Trump’s trusted social media strategist, unveiled a new glimpse into the Oval Office through a video shared online.

The video, set to the tune of “Fly Like an Eagle” by the Steve Miller Band, hinted at a striking addition to the room’s decor.

As the camera panned across the room, it captured a coffee table adorned with the presidential seal, a model of the President’s envisioned Air Force One, and then swept over the iconic Resolute Desk.

The focal point of this video was a majestic gold eagle statue, poised prominently in the room.

Positioned strategically, this grand sculpture will be a notable presence over the President’s shoulder during his time at the legendary desk.

The eagle appears to be carrying a gilded version of the US Constitution, as ‘we the people’ can faintly be made out. 

Scavino’s only message about the Oval Office addition was ‘good morning’ and the inclusion of American flag, eagle and rocket emojis in the post.

Since returning to the White House in January 2025, the President – a real estate developer in his past life – has installed golden details everywhere.  

The Oval Office is now covered in golden ornamentation. 

Some critics suggested the gold decals were purchased from Home Depot.

In November, when Trump took Fox News Channel host Laura Ingraham on a tour of the Oval Office, he pushed back on those claims. 

‘You know the one thing with gold? You can’t imitate gold, real gold. There’s no paint that imitates gold,’ Trump said. ‘So these aren’t, like, from Home Depot.’ 

‘No, this is not Home Depot stuff. This is not Home Depot,’ Trump added. 

The President has also decorated the outside of the Oval Office with gold, creating his ‘Presidential Walk of Fame,’ with gold portraits of the presidents – and an autopen representing former President Joe Biden – and other gold ornamentation. 

He’s currently in the midst of a project to remove the taupe pavers underneath the ‘Presidential Walk of Fame,’ replacing them with black granite, so they go better with the gold-and-white motif.

And, of course, the most ornate structure on the White House grounds will eventually be the President’s ballroom, if Trump gets his way. 

Interior ballroom designs show gold chandeliers, lamps and trim, with the tables surrounded by gold chairs, dinner served on gold plates and lit by golden candlesticks. 

The ballroom project continues to face legal hurdles, with a federal judge last week asking for construction to be stopped, as a National Trust for Historic Preservation lawsuit makes its way through court. 

At the same time, the National Capital Planning Commission, the oversight board that Trump stuffed with his allies, approved the project to go forward last week. 

The Washington Post reported on Friday that new renderings of the President’s massive 250-foot triumphal arch show it’s quite golden too. 

The images show ‘one nation under God’ written in gold, a gold Lady Liberty statue on top of it, and four gold lions surrounding the structure.
