'This is the most beautiful time of your life': Meghan Markle opens up about her pregnancies with an expectant singer at David Foster's charity gala

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, shared a warm moment with pregnant singer Pia Toscano during a gala held in honour of David Foster last week, according to a new report.

The Montecito-based duchess, 45, attended the event with Prince Harry in Victoria, Canada, Foster’s hometown, as guests gathered to support the David Foster Foundation, a charity that helps families whose children need lifesaving organ transplants.

Toscano, who was among the performers at the high-profile charity gala, later revealed that Meghan offered her a personal message as she prepares to become a mother.

“This is the most beautiful time of your life,” Meghan told the singer, Page Six reported, with the duchess said to have gently touched Toscano’s baby bump during the exchange.

The singer also recalled a courteous gesture from Prince Harry, claiming the Duke of Sussex moved a chair for her during the evening.

Meghan became a mother for the first time in May 2019, when she and Harry welcomed their son, Archie, now seven. Their daughter, Lilibet, now five, was born in June 2021.

Archie was delivered at the private Portland Hospital in Westminster, marking the couple’s first experience of parenthood.

Nearly two years later, the Sussexes announced Meghan’s second pregnancy on Valentine’s Day, before Lilibet’s arrival that summer.

At the time, a spokesperson for Meghan and Harry said: ‘We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother.

‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.’

It was during this second pregnancy that Meghan and Prince Harry gave their explosive interview to Oprah Winfrey, causing shock waves around the world.

The Duchess kept a relatively low profile in terms of engagements during her pregnancy, appearing on a handful of virtual calls due to the pandemic.

Harry and Meghan’s baby girl was born on Friday, June 4, at 11:40am, weighing 7lb 11oz.

In her Archetypes podcast in 2022, Meghan touched on her journey into motherhood, revealing she was ‘so tired’ – while praising Serena Williams for looking ‘sexy’ while expecting.

In the first episode of the podcast, entitled ‘The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams’, the Duchess spoke to the tennis legend about double standards women face when they are labelled ‘ambitious’.

In one clip, Serena spoke about how she ‘loved being pregnant’, with Meghan going on to praise her for posing naked on the cover of Vanity Fair with ‘that belly chain’.

The royal mother-of-two said: ‘You made pregnancy look so sexy. I just waddled around. I was just tired. So tired. Oh my god.’

Meanwhile, last week, the Sussexes posed for pictures with 16-time Grammy winner Foster, 76, and his wife, actress and singer Katharine McPhee, 42.

Meghan and Harry have long been friends with the couple and were previously pictured on a double date with them.

In 2019, Foster arranged for the Duke and Duchess to stay at a close friend’s mansion on Vancouver Island, telling Our News Outlet at the time: ‘I felt honoured that I was able to help Meghan there because I’m a Canadian, and we’re a Commonwealth country – we’re the Crown’s.

‘It’s important to us, so I grew up with that kind of sentiment. I was really happy to be able to help them to find a respite just to take a little time off.’

The mansion, a secluded waterfront estate in North Saanich, British Columbia, was owned by Mr Foster’s close friend, whose identity he refused to give away.

McPhee went to school with the Duchess and told Access Hollywood in 2020 that her husband and Harry have a ‘really, really beautiful relationship’.

‘They’re so cute. They’re like father and son.

‘We just stay in touch with them [the Sussexes]. But mostly, Meghan and I knew each other from childhood, but really Harry and my husband are friends. It’s really nice.’
