Gylfi Sigurdsson ‘could make his debut for Danish side Lyngby Boldklub on Friday’ according to a report.

The 34-year-old, who previously played for Tottenham, Swansea and Everton, has not not played competitively in over two years.

His last competitive appearance came in Everton’s 5-0 defeat to Manchester City in May 2021.

Sigurdsson had, since then been without a club, but at the start of September, Mail Sport reported that he had signed with the Danish first division side and could now be set to make his return to the football pitch.

That’s according to Lyngby’s coach Freyr Alexandersson, who, per Danish outlet TV2, has said that the midfielder could play in their home game against Vejle Boldklub later this week.

‘We are a little ahead of our plan,’ the coach said following their 1-0 victory against Hvidovre on Sunday.

‘He [Sigurdsson] could easily be in the game for the game on Friday. We really hope that he can be in the squad there, but if not then at least the following week.’

Speaking on Sigurdsson’s fitness Alexandersson added: ‘It looks really good. He has trained fully with the team for the last four practices and is looking sharper and sharper.

‘Now we are in the period when we have to make sure that he doesn’t get injured, because he has been driving himself to death for the past three weeks.
