Brentford’s Ivan Toney raced from the West London derby to present a BRIT Award in South-West London on Saturday night – and it has left fans confused.

The 27-year-old played all 90 minutes of Brentford’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon, before presenting the Producer of the Year prize at the music awards ceremony at The O2 in Greenwich.

However, the striker’s presence at the BRITs, to give the prize to London drum and bass duo Chase & Status alongside co-presenter Vick Hope, has left football fans confused.

The achievement was also acknowledged by an unlikely source for British music’s biggest night – Northampton Town Football Club.

They wrote: ‘Ivan Toney has become the first @NTFC_Academy product to present a Brit Award #ShoeArmy #BritAwards’.

Brentford sit in 15th place in the Premier League table, just six points clear of the relegation zone, but still Toney decided to spend his night at one of the biggest showbiz events in the British calendar.

One fan said: ‘Team fighting relegation, just dropped two points and training tomorrow yet he’s there without a care in the world.’

This led to a response which read: ‘What do you want him to do lol? Some Football fans genuinely think footballers can’t have a life outside of football’.

Another fan said the Brentford striker was ‘doing side quests’, while another joked by saying: ‘When you’ve got a game at 3 and the brits at 10’.

Fans were left confused by Toney's appearance, but his next game is not for another week

The Producer of the Year prize was one awarded directly to a winner, without a shortlist of other nominees.

Brentford’s next outing is a trip to Arsenal on Saturday evening, before another away day at Burnley seven days later.
