Organizers said they are taking a stand against the Trump Administration and come in light of recent ICE raids.

The nationwide protests align with a grand Military parade taking place in Washington D.C., marking the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary. Saturday also coincides with President Donald Trump’s birthday.

The Chicago Police Department has also cancelled days off for officers as they prepare for the influx in people.

Our primary concern is public safety, and our strategies and training for First Amendment assemblies are founded on constitutional policing and safeguarding everyone participating, working, and residing in the impacted areas. The CPD has substantial experience in managing and effectively securing large demonstrations over recent years, including those linked to the conflict in Gaza and the 2024 Democratic National Convention. We will persist in employing the same approach for upcoming large-scale protests. While protecting these gatherings, we will not tolerate any unlawful activities or violence. Individuals breaking the law will face consequences.”
