Elon Musk is trying to silence Microsoft employees who criticize Charlie Kirk

Elon Musk is urging Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to investigate Blizzard employees who criticized Charlie Kirk following his death. Musk shared an X thread that includes names and screenshots of the developers.

Musk’s direct query to Nadella comes amid a wider Republican-driven effort to silence voices celebrating Kirk’s death or speaking against him. Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) expressed intentions to use “Congressional authority and every influence with big tech platforms to enforce a lifetime ban on anyone belittling the assassination of Charlie Kirk.”

Former Blizzard developer Mark Kern, known online as “Grummz” and often commenting on right-wing issues on X, referred to the original thread, claiming it showed Blizzard employees speaking negatively about Kirk. Musk then echoed the post with his inquiry to Nadella.

Microsoft responded with a post on X, stating, “We’re aware of the opinions expressed by a small number of our staff concerning recent events.” This post, appearing on the main @Microsoft page, was not a direct response to Musk. “We treat such issues very seriously and are currently assessing each situation individually. Statements promoting violence toward anyone are unacceptable and conflict with our values.” (The screenshots shared by Musk do not depict any celebration of the shooting against Kirk.) As of now, Nadella has yet to respond publicly to Musk’s inquiry.
