Finding a Bluetooth speaker that delivers powerful audio and useful extras for less than $100 can be a challenge, especially when many budget models stick to the same compact, no-frills formula. For a limited time, Woot is offering the Anker Soundcore Boom 2 for $69.99 through July 10th. That’s $20 below the current sale price at retailers such as Amazon and roughly half off its original $129.99 price. The waterproof speaker promises up to 24 hours of battery life per charge, along with a bass-heavy sound profile suited for pool days, backyard gatherings, or casual listening outdoors.
Although bigger doesn’t always mean better in portable audio, the Soundcore Boom 2 has the kind of hardware that should help it stand out from similarly priced speakers. It features a 50W subwoofer paired with two 15W tweeters, a setup designed to produce louder, cleaner sound than many smaller competitors in this range. Its IPX7 rating also means it is fully waterproof and can be submerged, while its floating design lets it keep playing music — or handle calls via the built-in microphone — even in the water.
The Boom 2 also includes a strong feature set for the money. Through Anker’s companion app, users can customize the equalizer and adjust the speaker’s built-in lighting effects. It can even top up other devices at up to 5W using its integrated USB-A port. Support for Anker PartyCast 2.0 allows it to sync with compatible Anker speakers for a larger sound setup. One thing it does not include is a 3.5mm auxiliary input, which is fairly common for waterproof models, so playback is limited to Bluetooth.
