Playground Games is gearing up to release the next chapter in the popular Forza Horizon series next year, with an exciting new setting in Japan. Although many anticipated that Forza Horizon 6 would make its debut announcement during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show stream later today, the surprise came earlier when the official Forza Horizon Instagram account unveiled a teaser trailer this morning.
The Instagram video intriguingly states, “The Horizon Festival is heading to Japan,” and confirms a planned release in 2026. This sneak peek also reveals that Forza Horizon 6 will be accessible on Xbox Game Pass and will have Xbox Play Anywhere capabilities.
The announcement of the 2026 release timeframe for Forza Horizon 6 signals a bustling period ahead for Xbox and specifically for Playground Games. Earlier this year, Xbox head Phil Spencer casually mentioned that the new Forza would drop in 2026. Joining Forza Horizon 6 will be Gears of War: E-Day, a remastered version of Halo CE, and Playground Games’ Fable.
Arriving a year after Microsoft launched the last version, Forza Horizon 5, on PS5, Forza Horizon 6 continues the franchise’s momentum. The four-year-old predecessor topped sales charts on Sony’s PlayStation store, securing its status as one of the most played PS5 titles this year.
