Garmin’s new screen-free fitness tracker doesn’t require a subscription

Garmin has unveiled the Cirqa, a new screen-free smart band built for users who want advanced fitness and wellness tracking without another display competing for their attention. Like rival wearables such as the Whoop 5.0 and Google’s recently introduced Fitbit Air, the Cirqa relies on heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature, and motion sensors to monitor activity and health throughout the day and night. Garmin says the minimalist design also helps extend battery life to as much as 10 days on a single charge — and unlike some competitors, the device does not require a subscription.

The Cirqa supports tracking for more than 80 activities, ranging from running to yoga. Users can choose workouts through the Garmin Connect app, while the band’s single side button can be configured as a quick shortcut for a favorite activity. Inside the app, Garmin also surfaces training insights, including how effective a workout was and whether your body appears ready for another session or would be better served by recovery.

Designed to be worn around the clock, the Cirqa can continuously track key health metrics such as heart rate and blood oxygen saturation, data that may help flag patterns associated with issues like asthma or sleep apnea. Each morning, the band can deliver a detailed sleep report covering sleep stages, breathing, and heart rate, then roll those readings into an overall sleep score for night-to-night comparison. Garmin also says women can use the Cirqa’s skin temperature sensing to support menstrual cycle tracking, including improved period predictions and retrospective ovulation estimates.
