Authorities in Indiana took a woman into custody last week following an incident where she allegedly discharged a firearm into the ground in an effort to quiet a group of children.

Nicole Gilstrap, aged 42, admitted to law enforcement officers that she was “fed up” with the noise from children playing in the field adjacent to her home. In a bid to silence them, she reportedly fired her gun into the soil, according to reports from WBIW.

Gilstrap claimed she positioned herself behind a shed when she discharged the weapon, asserting she had no visual on the youngsters.

The mother of the children recounted hearing six shots and said that during a confrontation over the gunfire, Gilstrap allegedly threatened her and her children’s lives. At the time of the shooting, only two of her five children were present in the field.

Following this dispute, the children’s father contacted emergency services, reporting that Gilstrap had threatened to harm his family. When deputies arrived, Gilstrap consented to a search of her camper, leading to the confiscation of a 9mm handgun as evidence.

Gilstrap faces charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness.
