Following the great success of the Netflix documentary “The Staircase,” HBO has set May 5 for the premiere of the 2022 miniseries “The Staircase.”

The Ratliff sisters are Peterson’s adopted daughters, and the 2022 series focuses on their relationship.

The daughters of the late Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Ratliff, are settled in the U.S. today, where they lead their lives respectively, as of 2022.

Romper reports that Martha had settled down in Colorado while Margaret moved to California.

After their father, Michael, was convicted of Kathleen’s murder, the sisters decided to part ways and left their home in Durham, North Carolina,

Meanwhile, their father, Michael, is currently out of prison and released his account of his wife’s death through a memoir titled “Behind the Staircase” in 2019.

Additional reports on the estranged father and daughter’s reunion have not made headlines as the family has sought privacy.

Margaret And Martha Ratliff’s Parents Are Not Alive

Margaret and Martha Ratliff lost their parents, George and Elizabeth when they were very young.

Their father, George, was a captain in the US Air Force who died of a heart attack in Panama in 1983.

Meanwhile, their mother, Liz, was a school teacher who died after falling off a staircase in her home in Germany in 1985. She had spent the evening out with Michael and Patty.

Margaret was two years old, and Martha was just one at the time of their mother’s death. Hence, as neighbors and close friends of Liz, Michael and Patty had adopted the girls but not legally.

The Ratliff sisters were raised alongside the Peterson family’s two sons, Tod and Clayton. When Michael returned to the U.S. and remarried, both sisters again formed a familial bond with the late Kathleen.

Margaret and Martha Ratliff are married to husbands and lead their own families despite the nationwide commotion of their adoptive mother’s death.

Though the sisters faced unfortunate family situations, including their loved ones’ deaths and prison sentences, they were loved by their parents.

Michael is regarded as a good and loving father to his sons and adoptive daughters. It was his bisexuality that prompted him to kill Kathleen as she was upset about it.

Likewise, both Ratliff sisters did not testify against Michael and stood in the support of him till the end.
