BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — A Bristol, Virginia shooting suspect who remains at large is also a suspect in a separate shooting that happened earlier this month in Bluff City.

The Bluff City Police Department confirmed that Harley Pope, 37, of Bristol, Virginia, was identified as a suspect in connection to an April 8 shooting on Highland Drive.

According to Bluff City police, no one was injured in the shooting, which they described as an isolated incident that occurred during an argument between two people.

“Harley Pope was the main suspect that did, that fled the scene,” Lt. Justin Bays of the Bluff City Police Department said. “There were shots fired in front of the residence, and then he also got in a vehicle and fired from the vehicle, where the other party at the residence also fired shots from a shotgun from the front porch as Harley was fleeing.”

Bays said Pope’s case is set to go before a grand jury.

Pope is also facing charges related to an April 5 shooting in Bristol, Virginia that injured another man.

Bristol, Virginia police attempted to serve Pope with an arrest warrant Wednesday near Dixie Street and Corporation Street, but Pope allegedly ran when he saw officers.

Bristol, Virginia police said Wednesday that Pope was last seen on Tannery Alley running south towards Mary Street wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt and gray sweatpants.

Police continued their search for him on Thursday.

Both police departments said Pope should be considered “armed and dangerous.”

“Just, always be vigilant, and if you see him, don’t don’t try to approach him,” Bristol, Virginia Police Chief Byron Ashbrook said. “Just let us know, and we’ll do what we need to do.”

Bristol, Virginia police charged Pope with aggravated malicious wounding, shooting a firearm into an occupied dwelling, and reckless handling of a firearm.

Ashbrook believes Pope will be apprehended in the coming days.
