Man shot wife, then claimed she died by suicide: Authorities

James Radford (Shawano County Sheriff’s Office).

A man from Wisconsin reportedly asserted that his wife shot herself in the chest using both hands after he mentioned he was planning to end their relationship, but this explanation did not convince the authorities.

As per a criminal complaint, it is alleged that James C. Radford, now aged 39, was actually the one who fatally shot Sabrina Radford, 25, as she was holding a phone. He allegedly fabricated a narrative about her supposed “suicide” and falsely claimed he performed CPR.

From the complaint:

The complaint further states that when law enforcement arrived on April 11, 2016, they found clothes and other items strewn on the floor of an upstairs bedroom. It is believed that the defendant did this out of anger because his wife was involved with another man and she was planning to leave.

Radford is charged with first-degree reckless homicide with use of a dangerous weapon. He was charged on April 11, nine years after he allegedly killed Sabrina Radford, but Shawano County deputies announced it on Tuesday. Radford is scheduled for a status conference to take place June 9. Bond was set at $800,000 and he remains behind bars as of Tuesday.
