Trump Slams Apple for Building iPhones Overseas at Signing Event, Makes Hilarious Remark When Phone Rings

On Friday, Trump authorized a series of executive orders aimed at boosting the nuclear energy sector. These orders focus on reducing the nation’s reliance on foreign technologies and revitalizing the domestic nuclear industry, according to a report by RedState.

“This is a monumental day for the nuclear industry… It will roll back more than 50 years of regulatory constraints on the sector,” remarked Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum during the signing ceremony.

A reporter asked President Trump about an earlier remark he made, in which he stated that Apple would face a 25 percent tariff if it doesn’t manufacture its iPhones in the U.S. “Do you have the authority to impose a tariff on a single company?”

First, Trump corrected the reporter that it would not just be Apple, but “anybody who makes that product, otherwise it wouldn’t be fair.” The president said the tariffs would not be implemented until the end of June.

When another reporter claimed it would be costly for Apple to build here in the U.S., Trump disagreed and said they could, crediting the company with coming in with $500 billion, along with chip companies.

Right after that exchange, President Trump’s phone started ringing. He looked at it sitting on his desk and picked it up.

He turned to the reporters and said, “It’s a phone call. Do you mind? Oh, okay. It’s only a congressman,” as he swiped across the screen and pushed the button to turn it off.

Trump put the phone back on the desk, where it sat for a second, before it started to ring once again.

“It’s a different congressman,” he said, after grabbing his phone and once again turning it off, possibly this time making it official. “They’re all congratulating us.”

When pressed by one reporter about who was on the phone, Trump declined to answer. However, he did confirm to another reporter that his phone was an iPhone.

Nick Arama provides further details here about the executive orders Trump signed on Friday, which will now “charge” up the industry to help America.

Secretary Bergum said of today’s event,” As energy demand continues to surge, expanding our existing nuclear fleet and investing in advanced nuclear technologies ensures we have reliable energy to power our homes, fuel for’ manufacturing revolution, and a stronger electric grid.”
