Edgar Co. Coroner finishes investigation of Paris man's death last month

PARIS, Ill. (WCIA) — The Edgar County Coroner released on Tuesday what he described as the “final details” on the death of a Paris man last month.

Coroner Scott Barrett shared on Facebook that 74-year-old Allen G. Williams passed away on June 10. He was discovered unresponsive in East Lake at Twin Lakes Park. A 911 call was made shortly after 1 p.m., and Williams was declared deceased 45 minutes later at Horizon Health Paris Community Hospital.

After examining the evidence at the scene, along with the results of the autopsy, histology, and toxicology tests, Barrett concluded the cause of Williams’ death.

Williams had gone to his boat dock on East Lake on June 10 to perform maintenance on his boat. While on the dock, he suffered a head injury from a fall. This injury caused him to lose consciousness, leading to his fall into the water, where he tragically drowned.
