One man is fighting for his life and another will face court today on an attempted murder charge after an alleged deliberate hit-and-run in Ipswich, Queensland.

Authorities report that an incident occurred between two men on Fernvale Road in Brassall just before 1 p.m.

According to police, one of the men left the scene, went home, and got his Mitsubishi Outlander, which he then drove back to Fernvale Road.

He is accused of intentionally hitting the other man with the vehicle before driving away.

A 30-year-old Brassall man was taken to hospital with life-threatening head injuries.

Police arrested a 26-year-old Brassall man on Caribou Drive a short time later.

He was charged with attempted murder and is due to face court today.

Police do not believe the two men were known to each other.

The investigation continues.
