Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett has faced criticism for allegedly using the devastating Texas floods, which resulted in over 100 fatalities, as an opportunity to focus attention on herself.

The 44-year-old Texas representative shared her experiences on Instagram, discussing her challenges of “surviving” during the Donald Trump presidency, and also drew attention to her new hairstyle.

The post’s initial caption read: ‘I just wanted to jump on for a sec to discuss the Texas Flash Floods, the trashy bill, & moving forward.’

She then added: ‘Edit: My staff said y’all are commenting about my BOB! Thank you @jacorean_ for orchestrating the look.’

In the video that highlighted her fresh bob haircut, Rep. Crockett effectively conveyed her sincere emotions about the floods, explaining how the tragedy would have a lasting impact on her.

‘The sad part is, I think that my heart is going to carry a level of weight that will continue to weigh me down as we have to continue to do our best to survive in an administration that literally is against us,’ Rep. Crockett said in the video, posted earlier this week.

‘An administration that is doing everything, in my mind, to hurt us and not help us. And it feels like we are fending for ourselves and no one should feel that way.’

Rep Crocket explained her concern that the tragic Texas floods would weigh on her for a long time. More than 160 people are still believed to be missing in Texas days after flash floods killed over 100 people during the July Fourth weekend

But her decision to pivot to discuss her new hair was viewed as spoiling her message – and Instagram followers were quick to criticize.

Rep. Crockett’s followers had been commenting on her hair under the video where she said her ‘heart is truly heavy for all of these families.’

One comment read: ‘A moment for the hair first.’

Another added of Rep. Crocket’s haircut: ‘I know this is important but…OK BOB!’

But some of the comments called out the lawmaker for mentioning her hair while discussing the Texas tragedy.

One said: ‘Please. This Lady is talking about people’s lives. Why is there ANY discussion about her hair?!? My God. This is why we are here now. These are serious times.’

Another added: ‘This is all about me. So disgusting. Bless your heart!’

DailyMail.com has reached out to Rep. Crockett for comment on this story.

Rep. Crocket’s controversial post came as more than 160 people are still believed to be missing in Texas days after flash floods killed over 100 people during the July Fourth weekend, the state’s governor said Tuesday.

The huge jump in the number unaccounted for — roughly three times higher than previously said — came after authorities set up a hotline for families to call.

Those reported missing are in Kerr County, where most of the victims have been recovered so far, Governor Greg Abbott said.

Many were likely visiting or staying in the state’s Hill Country during the holiday but did not register at a camp or hotel, he said during a news conference.

The county’s lowlands along the Guadalupe River are filled with youth camps and campgrounds, including Camp Mystic, the century-old all-girls Christian summer camp where at least 27 campers and counselors died. Officials said Tuesday that five campers and one counselor have still not been found.

The flash flood is the deadliest from inland flooding in the U.S. since Colorado’s Big Thompson Canyon flood on July 31, 1976, killed 144 people, said Bob Henson, a meteorologist with Yale Climate Connections. That flood surged through a narrow canyon packed with people on a holiday weekend, Colorado’s centennial celebration.
