An illegal immigrant was arrested Tuesday after she tried seeking sanctuary at a Colorado probation office, authorities said.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were initially focused on apprehending Darwin Arriche-Sierra, 35, a Venezuelan national with two DUI convictions, during a traffic stop.
Nonetheless, Arriche-Sierra was riding in a car driven by Carolina Suarez-Estrada, 32, who hails from Colombia and was also residing illegally in the United States.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi set a deadline for cooperation with federal authorities by this week. She recently announced that sanctuary jurisdictions nationwide were given one week to comply with federal immigration laws or encounter action from the Department of Justice through written notifications she had disseminated.
“Under the leadership of President Trump, achieving complete cooperation by state and local governments in immigration enforcement is a foremost priority,” Bondi stated, mentioning that Trump tasked her to “identify sanctuary jurisdictions and inform them of their unlawful sanctuary status and potential breaches of federal law.”
